Default Cluster will Randomly shut off while driving?

Hey guys
I have a 2006 f150 xlt 4x4
for the past year my cluster will randomly turn off/reset it self
The cluster will turn off ( tac, speedo, gas guage, ect )
Then all the warning lights will come on at the same time and stay light up ( 4x4, abs, engine, parking brake ect )
The odometer will just be blank ( it is still lit up but no mileage is shown )
Tac, speedo, and all my gauges look as if the truck is off
Sometimes I can push the odometer stick in and the cluster will go back to normal, other times if I tap directly above the cluster it will turn back normal.
I cant say any particular thing makes it turn of more. bumps, heat, cold, ect don't seem to play a big factor.

I haven't taken the cluster out I hopefully will have time to do that this up coming week but do I need a cluster?
I know on the earlier fords ( pre 2003 ) failing clusters was common but im not sure what they are like on these ones

I should also note, when my cluster turns off only the cluster is affected. radio works, lights work ect
thanks guys

There's a thread somewhere in here that explains how to repair it yourself, I have the same issue with mine. Lights in dash light up and chimes go off then I smack the too of the dash and everything works fine again. It's in the cluster at the lower right corner when you take it out. You peel back the plastic and there will be 5-7 pins together. One of them is loose so pull them out and put a dab of dielectric grease on the tips and put back together. Try to find the thread because it better explains how to do it

Hello I have a 2007 f150 4x4 XLT and have the same issue where the instrument cluster, radio, and windows power goes out while driving. I was wondering if you or anyone else of this forum had had luck fixing this problem?

Had the same problem. Tried to fix it myself with no luck. Ended up sending it out to someone on EBay to fix it. No problems since I think it was around $100
