Default CLicking Sound when 4wd is engaged... Caused by trans install?by trans

I finally used my 4wd last night...first time i tried it since getting my new tranny in the spring. I heard and felt a loud clicking sound as soon as I turned it on. Seemed like it had trouble going back to 2wd also..

I made an appointment to bring it in again, but I am worried that the dealership will just say that my 4wd is broken now even if it does have to do with the trans install which is what I suspect.

What could they have done wrong while installing the new trans that would cause this? Or is it more likely that it was not caused by the trans install?

Any info would be helpful. I should have thought of testing out 4wd after they worked on my truck.

if it's clicking in the front, there really is no way that a new trans could have anything to do with it.

Default hmm

Not really sure where the click comes from but it seems like the front. You can feel it in the pedals and even the steering wheel..pretty severe. ONly when using 4wd though.

Maybe I should stop by the dealership who did the work and see if they will drive it before I waste time leaving it there for them to tell me that something else has gone wrong.

I guess I just wont use 4wd because in the past year I have spent $3000 on new trans $800 spark plug job $150 to fix leaking moonroof that is still leaking, and before all that I had just spent $900 on new tires. ON top of all that the truck rattles like an sob when you first start it up.

If this is unrelated to the tranny install.....What a POS.. I have used 4wd probably 15 times since owning my truck..just in bad snow storms and in the pouring rain the other night

Default ...

Yes

I guess I'll just drop it off and if they are going to charge me tell them not to do the work... I cant afford more money on the truck right now..

If its not clicking in 2wd I assume its ok to drive..

hmm. it could be a loose driveshaft maybe, or it could be a u-joint issue too, not sure if you can rebuild the f150 shafts or if they are disposable.
