Check for a leaking manifold.

Dish soap and water to check it? I was thinking manifold too. Excuse to buy shorty headers instead of a factory manifold

Either that or put the truck in drive holding the brake and the giving it a bit of gas if you hear the rattling increase as you accelerate it's the manifold. Also on a cold start it will be loud for about 30-45 seconds the quiet right down. I have a manifold leaking on my 2008 as well on the passenger side

So does yours sound like this does and only do it between 900-1100rpm? I'm going to try unplugging the solenoids this weekend and check to see if it does it.

Yeah it does. On cold start from the passenger side and when the engine is under load. Can really hear it when going through a drive thru when your window is down

Interesting... Mine is completely silent though on cold starts. It only does this when warm and it does it both under load and neutral.

Worth looking into though. Like I said I'll check the vct solenoids first and go from there.

Any other input from people with knowledge of this issue is greatly appreciated.

Lol I know what you mean. That's exactly what it is then is the manifold leaking. What happens is a stud breaks that holds the manifold on and then it allows air to get by and the manifold gets "warped". At cold start its most noticeable till the manifold gets warmer and that's when it quiets down. It is a very annoying noise and makes you think your truck is gonna fall apart.
