Default Cigarette lighter mods/replacement

The cigarette lighter in the middle of my dash just went out. Won't charge my phone or anything. Just wondering if anyone has ever replaced or modded it to be just a USB outlet or something else.

Check fuse first. Can be done. But I would keep 12v with adapter

I added an HDMI & USB Cable to fit there that goes into the back of my aftermarket Stereo.

Looks OEM.

I just added this two port USB to the panel. Still have my 12V socket!

You can pick it up on ebay and amazon for just a few $'s...

I like the idea of the double port. Mind sharing how you got the dash pieces apart?

The radio/climate bezel is one of the easy ones. Just start it out with a plastic pry tool, then grab and pull it straight backwards. There are several metal clips that will release around the edges. You can then access the tabs on the backside of the lighter panel, pinch those while applying pressure and it comes right off...

If the cigarette lighter is out (blown fuse) the OBD-II connector is out as well; they are on the same fuse.

Just a heads up if you need to read your diagnostic codes, or plan to install a tuner in the future.

Just went and checked the fuse box to find the blown fuse and there isn't even a fuse in the #110 location where the diagram says the 20a fuse for the cigarette lighter is

Haha! Id start there then. I also recommend adding an additional usb port and keeping the 12v. Never know what is going to need the old 12v port.
