So what is holding this cap on? Snaps that are breaking? Just a friction fit? I can't imagine this just coming off on it's own...

Mine came loose (bent on one clip) and I glued it back. If I remember correctly, there are 4 snap-clips, they're thin plastic and break or bend easily. Once that happens, they don't clip in place and come loose.

I can't understand why one would replace the whole handle!? The worst thing that could happen is you lose all 4 clips, then glue the whole cap on! LOL!

They are 3 little clips that hold it. I super glued mine and came off again the next day so then I used Gel super glue and it worked much better.

Gorilla glue is a way to stop this. You just have to be careful, because when it dries you'll have foamed up glue all over the place. Use very little GG if you decide to got this route.

We fixed my father in law's 04 with gorilla glue about 2 yrs. ago and it's yet to come off.

the first time I gorilla glued mine and it still came off, the second time i used super glue but Im sure it will still come off eventually....and I'll glue it again Im sure not going to buy a whole new shifter....unless its an aftermarket billet one or something.
