Default Chrome Door Handle Covers andFender Trim

Just got a 2007 F150 XLT and it came with chrome door handle covers and fender trim. I'm wanting to take the handles covers of and get rid of the fender trim. My question is how do I remove the handles? And should I paint the trim black or just buy another complete set?

Heat it with a good hair dryer or heat gun and a plastic pry tool to remove the door handle covers. Use goo gone from was mart to dissolve any remaining glue. Same for fender trim.

I thought about doing the same to my 08 Limited, but the chrome on my handles doesn't appear to be a cover. If it is, it's really, really thin. I can't imagine trying to pry anything off the tailgate handle. It's kinda flimsy.
