Cherry Bomb Extreme Muffler
I am thinking of putting a single-in Dual-out Cherry Bomb Extreme Muffler on my 04' 5.4 liter F150. I want it to be pretty loud, but not crazy loud. Right now I have a Delta Flow 40 Series Flowmaster- one in, tw0 out muffler which is too quiet. I looked at Cherry Bomb's website and it says that the Extreme muffler is recommended for Off-road and racing applications. I wandered if anyone has them on their 5.4 three valve and could tell me how it sounds. The cats are still there, also. Thank you.

5.4 Triton I would mess around with the cats and headers instead of the muffler. The 40 series is one of the loudest! I have a borla and I cut out the two rear cats and that really added an exhaust note. Then I added dynatech headers w/ hi flow cats and that really opened up the exhaust. Or you can take out your 40 series muffler and just get a 10 series race muffler from flowmaster. Hope that helps as far as an say on the cherry bombs sorry that I cant help.

i have the extreme on my 4.9L straight six, its not teribly loud but neither is the motor itself, the muffler is ok but it isnt much differnet then just striaght pipes from cat back, i would stick with the 40 series and remove the back cats

I have the extreme on my 04 5.4 and I think it sounds good. Even at 60-80mph it is not annoying. You deffinitely hear it but I haven't had any passengers complain. I have it set up from the cat back.

Rather than "how loud is it", can anyone describe (a dyno sheet would be nice) it's performance gains/losses?
If you just want noise, remove pieces of your exhaust; stop when when you get the desired sound level. You'd save money.

I can't just remove pieces of my exhaust.........We have emissions testing in Pa. which means if it came with cats.......It must have cats. That's why I am interested in knowing the sound of the cherry bomb extreme.

if you want it sick loud throw a cut out valve on there. then you can run it without cats or anything. then when you do your emissons test just close iti up. i live in cali and thats all i did. havnt failed a test yet. just make sure you get a good one. aluminum ones have a tendance to warp.
