Check engine light on, oil fill cap missing
As the title says, somehow I managed to leave my oil fill cap off. I discovered this when the check engine light came on and I lifted the hood to discover an engine compartment nicely coated in oil. Apparently it had been off a while. Good news is the oil level wasn't past 1 1/2 quart low.
Two questions: how do I reset check engine light after I change the oil tomorrow?
How do I clean engine without causing further damage?
Thank you!

Check engine light can be reset by taking the battery cables off and touching them together for 30 seconds. You can also take it to an autozone, and they will clear the code for free.
As for the oil, I don't really have any ideas. Obviously an engine degreaser would work, but there are certain parts that you need to cover up to avoid getting water in. Hopefully someone else can chime in who has washed their engine already.

You can wet they whole engine bay just don't use high pressure water I get a 2step ladder and but it about 5 feet back and spay the engine compartment then get back in and spray water where you need to but with light pressure and degreasure won't hurt
