cheapest place for pads/rotors

I got a set of Wagner ThermaQuites from Amazon for about 1/2 price by buying used. Look on the regular amazon page for an item and the link to used which are usually new parts that have been returned because someone ordered the wrong part. So far I have purchased used brake pads, Motorcraft spark plugs, and all my Motorcraft belt pulleys and tensioner. All were brand new genuine parts in original package but may have been opened at one point. It took about 6 weeks to acquire all the used/new pulleys

Others may have the same question and see this post. I too just bought the Wagner Thermoquiets (although with some reluctance based on recent discussions that they have changed in quality from what they used to be) Right now Wagner has a $15 per set rebate. On amazon it was about $30 for each set, so $15 a set after rebate, pretty good deal I think.

I can say this so far about the thermoquiets: while the braking is much improved, the brake dust is much worse than the OEM pads that were on there. I could be pad composition, too. Both the OEM and TQs were semi-metallic, but the dust color is different. The OEMs produced a brownish, rusty dust. The TQs produce dark grey/black dust...and lots of it. I knew going into it that if I wanted reduced brake dust, to go ceramic. However, I tow a horse trailer, so I went semi. Unfortunately, I bought into the belief that the TQs produced less dust than the OEMs. This has proven false.

I have zero brake dust with my ceramics. My wheels were black in a few days with the junk stock setup. Why are you worried to run ceramics while towing. If you are set up right with a brake controller, and your brakes are working properly on your trailer, I don't see what the issue is. Did someone tell you they would glaze?

Chive So Hard
There are a few things I will never try to save money on, and one of them is brakes. I was fortunate enough to have good front rotors on the truck (drilled and slotted) but the rears were going. I did a full brake job to the truck and got new rear rotors, and red stuff on all 4 corners. She stops very silently, no brake dust, and I dont think I would want any lesser setup. It was pricey but worth it.
