Charging Issue Maybe Maybe Not

Installed NEW alternator from Rockauto today. Unplugged the Edge programmer and I still get the "Check Charging System" message. Also when I attach my scanner it can't get any input. I hooked up my VOM to the battery w/it running and get a steady 14.2v. Is it possible my issue is in the dash? If so will I need to go to the dealership and spend big $$$'s to get it fixed. If so I may just live with it for a while.

Wouldn't surprise me. We see threads on here a lot about the cluster needing to be repaired. Most guys just get one from the junk yard.
