Default Changing Plugs, quick question

Getting the plugs changed on my 07 5.4L. It has 80,000 miles on it. A service writer recommended changing the spark plug boots also. Anyone think this is a waste of money? He said there is a chance they could crack when they start taking things apart. I was thinking just have them change them if they do crack but don't if they survive the service. Just looking to see what guys have had done in the past. I think he said these things run about $20 a piece. Let me know what you think. thanks

I didnt do it would pretty hard to crack them.. I just took them off, cleaned them and then put dielectric grease on and put them back on.. truck runs great..

You will find it about 50/50 on here and others where have say change them and others say just replace as they go out..

Here is the real question, has anyone had one crack? I sure haven't heard of it once

I have changed my plugs twice now 133,000 and 176,000 miles didnt change them either time.

Your talking about the rubber boot part only and not the actual coil right?

I have never replaced mine when I changed my plugs, and I used the same coil packs and boots on my new motor with no issue that's one of the items I say don't fix what is not broken. Save the money for a mod or fuel

Hey just thought I'd share my experience. I have a 2006 screw xlt with the 5.4 with just over 84,000 miles. I changed the plugs myself. However I ran seafoam thru the gas tank for about 5 days prior to the change. Then right before I changed them, same day, I ran it thru the vacuum lines and cleaned them out. I used PB Blaster on each plug and let sit for a minute or two before attempting up pull them out. One thing I did that seemed to really help was right before I removed them I tightened them a 1/4 to an 1/8 of a turn then loosened them and they all came out no problems. I'll post pics of the plugs if y'all want
