Wow so the truck sat all Friday night, I replaced the filter Saturday morning before the first start of the day. Filled the filter with oil and the very first start with the motor craft filter already sounded like I never had a problem! I thought maybe it was a coincidence so I let it sit the rest of Saturday and started her up again today and still not rattle can sound! I am thoroughly amazed what a different a filter makes. I only needed 1/2 a quart to get it back in the filled level on the dip stick.

After inspecting the royal purple filter it does have the rubber or silicone anti drain valve but it seemed a little flimsy compared with the one on the motor craft filter. I stuck a small, blunt, and hard plastic scraper and pushed back both anti drain valves both to fill the new one and drain the old one and I could definitely tell a difference in materiel thickness. The royal purple filter may have superior media for filtering if you are going for extended interval drains with synthetic oil but I think I'd rather not have a rattle can sound and change the MC filter have way though. Bottom line I will be sticking with the MC filer from now on!

Oh and after reading though the owners manual it actually states in the maintenance and specification section (I think) that the rattle noise I was hearing could happen with a oil filter that did not meet ford specs.
