As long as the level is in the hash marks your fine.
Hmmm we'll that doesn't help. I'm looking for something more specific.

Half a quart. Btw RP trumps motorcraft so bad it makes MC look like complete garbage. Dont buy the communist propaganda! Its a good filter but far from the best. Try a thicker oil or just fixing the mechanical problem. (I choose thicker oil, running 0w40 in mine)

I agree with ya if I had the money I'd go with the rp oil all day long but mc is cheap and it's hard to find people that say it's not a good oil. I don't think I have a mechanical problem it's just a little dry sounding after sitting over night. It won't do it for the rest of the day, just first start up. If the filter change doesn't help I might try a synthetic oil next probably rp.

Can you tell us what makes RP so good? I'm sitting at 192,000 miles and rum 5w30 Mobil 1 with MC filter, Engine is as quiet as the day it was drove off the lot, everything original. I'm confident of getting 300k + with this combo. Do you think 400k might be realistic if I switch to RP?

What is so hard that you need specifics?
Change the filter then add oil.

You could have had the filter changed and reported back how much oil you added by the time you get your specifics in this thread.

1/2 to 3/4 of a quart. That however is not going to fix your problem.

It's a question man that's what this forum is for right? I know how to check my oil, any man does. I don't want to go to the store twice and I don't want a whole lot of oil sitting around till the next change. And yes I was going to report back once I changed the filter, but again I asked a question, if you don't know don't give an answer. It's pretty simple.

When you don't know the problem start with the cheapest part to change lol.

It has better flow because of the synthetic media, a metal screen to prevent media tears, and increased contaminate capacity. I dont think it would help you get another 100k miles though. Haha . I was just pointing out that mc is not the end all in oil filters, its just a purolator classic with a silicone anti drain back valve. (The RP has this as well) good filter for a good price but no one should be shamed for using a different filter. it doesn't magically stop start up rattles better than any other quality filter.

I personally use plenty of MotorCraft FL 820S filters and Bosch premium 3410 AND Fram Ultra filters and have never heard a difference at start up between any of them.

Will a top tier $12 filter make your engine go longer than a MC? Probably not. They have a specific purpose though and that is extended drains (more miles in between changes)
that being said, I certainly couldnt see removing one for no other reason than "its not a MC"

A Cadillac will get you to the grocery store just as good as a Honda
