changing a fuel filter on a 5.4
so I know where the fuel filter is located, but I was told that I will need a certain tool for doing this. would I be best off taking it a to shop, rather than investing in the tool to do it myself? thanks for reading.

I just have mine changed out every 2-3 years when I have my vehicle inspected, shops don't charge a whole lot to change them out. If you're going to do it yourself check out this guide : http://www.f150online.com/forums/art...-pictures.html

It's super easy! Here's the tool you need called a fuel line disconnect tool. They say to bleed off the pressure or let the truck sit overnight and it will bleed pressure itself but I drove mine to get the filter and changed it as soon as I got home without bleeding it without a single problem.

I got a little blue disconnect tool from O'Rielys for like 2 or 3 bucks... They should know what size you need there. Easy change had it switched in 5 minutes... I didn't bother bleeding the lines either. Mine looked like coffee dumping out of the back end of the filter guess it was never changed before I bought the truck...
