I like me sum racin'. ...an I heered that airplane gas is a hunert octanes, so I put in my truck when I'm racin' my frenz in town. Gives me 30 more horse power!

I actually know a guy who checks his engine oil/dipstick by smell. If it doesn't smell burnt, he says it's still good. Of course. If he replaced the oil and filter, all the stress on the oil pump, piston rings and bearings from that new oil would be intolerable. He went and changed the ole...an' then his engine tore up! Dang!!

Say. I sure hope the airlines don't change the oil in the engines they use. All them aircraffs will be crashin', an' I don't wanna be on them when that happens! Uh-uh..

I ain't washin' my clothes neither. It just wears them out faster.

Don't change fluids. Don't rotate tires. Etc, etc. Just cry about those crappy (fill in part here) that keep tearing up.
Viscosity and thermal breakdown. Properties of fluid dynamics that elude you.

I've no idea of the history of transmission fluid changes on my truck. I think it's only had one owner, but I also have no idea how he used the truck. I think he towed a boat, because the hitch ball, receiver and hitch lock (which I don't have a key for) have severe sal****er rust.

I'm at 124,000 miles and the fluid smells looks and tastes right so....I'll do the filter at 125, I guess.

Dealer flushed my 06 at ~70k miles. No issues since and I'm at 101k now.

Flushing can cause issues but a simple fluid change and filter change will never hurt you.

would you question changing your oil on a used truck you just bought because you dont know when it was last chaged? Hell no you drain that crap out immediately and put in the good stuff.

I bought my truck with 89k on it and by 95k I changed every dang fluid in the truck. With the exception of the brake fluid but it will get done.

Dropped the pan after 2 weeks of owning it and it was the first change ever. I replaced the filter and fluid and added an aluminum trans pan. I will continue fluid changes every 30k and fluid and filter every 60k.

Sure. That must be it.

A hundred years ago, new shoes on the horses would cause them to founder.

The legitimacy of lubrication in mechanics. ...or the magic of urban legends.
