Its a 'nobrainer' if its on the vehicle listed in your profile. Now if you're talking about on that cool vehicle linked by your signature line - that's a different story. The VCT solenoids could be just about anywhere!

ok new update I took my truck back to the shop that done the work.trying to drive it it ran like poo stalled on me three time.it would not take throttle unless I put it in neutral and reved the engine a little, then it cleared out and ran ok for a very short time like 50/75 feet then back to sputtering and not responding to throttle, till I put it back in neutral then again it ran good but only for the same a short distance.Well they have it in the shop now...but was wondering on your thoughts of what you thought it was?a friend said have them do a oilpresure test on it?how hard is it to change the oilpump and pick up tube? And do you think it wuld b a good idea? Thanks Ray....ps sorry if my grammer is as bad as their mechanics in advance.

Is that the same idiots you referenced in Posts #14 & #18? If so, you probably should prepare yourself for them to tell you that you need a new motor. That's a typical response for mechanics when they've already got your $2360.00 and throw their hands up because they can't do a timing job clean enough to get it right the first time.

Ok...got a call for the company saying its throwning a crank and cam sensor saying the sensors are plugged .he said the guy I bought it from must of never changed the oil.I Said ya or it could b the fact that when I bought it the top of the motor was covered with sand and dirt/grime.and after you got done working on it it was still covered with sand dirt/grime.He stated ohh no sir we vacuumed the top of the motor off.i argued and told him he was lying, and thiers still dirt and sand /grime covering my motor.so if they did do the work they claim they never cleaned any parts or even blew the valve covers off.not to mention the fact that oil was covering the front of the motor.thier sappose to try and flush my motor..wich yep like you said time to start looking for a new motor

I didn't say it was time for you to start looking for a new motor. I said prepare yourself for the mechanic that got your $2360.00 (for doing a phaser job with sand, dirt/grime covering the motor) telling you that's what you have to do next.)

Now you have another chance to find out if he knows what he's doing. When he's finished with the FLUSH, ask him if he removed and checked the VCT Solenoid screens afterwards. If not, he doesn't know what he's doing.

IMO an engine flush is very good thing to do on these engines, especially if poor maintenance is suspected (and with sand, dirt/grime on it - it is suspected). BUT... if the FLUSH dislodges any sludge, grime or gunk, (or foreign matter he allowed to get into the oil passageways) it will be caught in the super fine little screen filters in your VCT Solenoids and cause additional problems with phaser operation. He outa' know that. It's the result hoped for when you do a flush!
