There isn't any square holes to lift or pry on when opening the console lid and I am fearfull of prying any harder trying to lift the trim around the automatic shift lever. Any suggestions ? Still trying to fix a light bulb in my 2004 F150 floor console?

Looking for more info. on changing light bulb in center console, by automatic shift stick.

I just changed mine and it is as easy as described. The shifter cover just lifts off. I took a putty knife and found a spot a little higher than the rest, and gently pried it up. Once you get one corner up, the rest just pop up by pulling it up by hand. The socket is visible on the driver's side, and just twist it counter clockwise and pull back. The bulb just pulls straight out (took a minute). The bulb (2 pack) cost me under $2.00!
