Default CD Changer swap..WTF?

I just swapped my single disc factory cd player for a "Shaker?" 6 disc changer. I have steering wheel controls for the single disc (lariat), but now that I have my new changer in, I lost my controls. Anyone know what the deal is with this?

--I've also lost some power to sub I have in the cab.

Thanks for any help

You need a wiring harness connector from Best Buy or somewhere of the like. They will not work without having this harness. Reletively inexpensive if memory serves me.

What do you mean you lost "some" power to the sub?

Here is a Crutchfield link for the adapter.

The built in equalizer is different or something, just something I noticed regarding the sub.

I found the adapter. $75 seem right?

Yep. Sounds right.

Generally from my experience (this is the first vehicle of 10 I've owned with the factory HU installed- most I change out) the sound quality diminishes in general when swapping out HU's for a non-factory unit. Reason I found on some (not all) is that the reason you go to the dealer and find that your factory HU is $400-$500+ is 'cause most of them have internal amplifiers that are boosting their output wattage.

So I'm a little lost here, my steering wheel controls worked just fine for an almost identical unit (same plugs in the back of the head unit), now it doesn't now that it's on a different HU?

Seems like there should be a way to program the steering wheel controls?

Which factory radio did you have and which Shaker did you install?

Can you give me the part ford numbers?

I have the factory double din cd player. It had the controls for the cd changer, but is only single disc. The shaker was a Shaker 500. Not sure what the ford numbers would be. The shaker 500 came out of a 2006 sxt crew cab 5.4 and my factory came with a 2005 lariat f150.
