To find a switched circuit, use a light tester or multimeter and probe the fuse panel, while turning the key on and off.... locate the radio fuses in the manual and try to use those... that way the new circuit will work with the retained power function like the radio.
Fuse taps are ****... too many problems which make them a liability. Just splice the trigger wire from the relay (pin 85 or 86 doesn't matter) into the radio's ignition or into the ignition wire itself. Nice part is if you need it you will receive Retained Accessory Power if you do tap into the radio's ignition/switched power source. Then just ground the opposite pin out to the vehicle or splice into a factory ground but I wouldn't recommend that honestly. Then run your common or pin 30 to the battery or any constant power source but make sure if it's a circuit it can handle the extra current. Finally splice pin 87 or 87a (depending on whether or not the relay is normally open or closed) to the power on the back of the radio. You now have a switched power source intended for a constant with manual switching ability.

I've never had an issue with 'em... not to say they don't though.... what problems did you have... maybe i should rethink using them in the future?

It's not a CB, but I wired an accessory to the "accessory delay relay" in the fuse panel. That way, it comes on with the truck, but also stays on until you open your door like the radio and window switches do. Look in the manual under fuses for its location, or another fuses location if you want to do it differently. Just make sure there's an in line fuse to the CB.

Midland 1001z. I'm hookin it up tonight. I just went to radio shack and got all the stuff for the PA system aspect of it. I've decided to run the positive to the battery and run the negative to a bolt on the frame. I got a firestick 4 foot tunable tip antenna. I guess ill calibrate it eventually with a SWR meter.
