CB Radio power wiring.

CB Radio power wiring.
I just got a new CB radio and I was wondering how you're supposed to wire it into the fuse box in order to get the power for it how do you make it to where the CB radio turns off when you turn off the vehicle thanks.

I would suggest using a relay for this effort.
The 12v + path from the battery is switched on/off by a relay.
A separate "trigger" voltage, also tied to the relay turns that 12+ to the radio on and off.
So, in this arrangement any 12v accessory is tapped into and it becomes the trigger.
When that accessory is powered on, the relay allows 12v+ to the radio and when that accessory is off, the relay stops the 12v to the radio.
This is really basic stuff.
If you aren't familiar with it do a few web searches, lots of diagrams out there showing the principle.
here's one...

They also make a fuse tap (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...content=value4)
that plugs in place of the original fuse, and then gives you a fuse holder for the original circuit plus the new circuit....using No Thanks diagram above wire the fuse tap into the green and plug into the correct place in the fuse box.
To find a switched circuit, use a light tester or multimeter and probe the fuse panel, while turning the key on and off.... locate the radio fuses in the manual and try to use those... that way the new circuit will work with the retained power function like the radio.
