The speaker was plenty loud. If you want one that is louder, find one with a larger wattage.

we have the same dash and i never thought about using the spot were the cigerette lighter is lol. i put mine were your bass controler is.

Actually, CB's (fondly referred to as Children's Band) has lost popularity over the past 20 years or so. They are useful if you do a lot of off-roading in groups, and occasionally useful for traffic information on the highway (if you can ignore the foul language). But, since the FCC has relaxed the licensing rules, shortwave has really grown in popularity.
Personally, I think I might get more use out of a fire/police scanner than anything else.
