Default catalytic converters removed

Does anyone have a 2004-2008 F150 with all the cats removed and no mufflers? I've been told they run bad with straight pipes but what would be the negative affect's to doing this? I currently have a H pipe with no mufflers and its not loud enough what other options do I have?

Negatives?

Besides the possibility of being fined for tampering with federally mandated emissions equipment and a dodgy chance at resale because of it?

Besides, what's "not loud enough" for you is probably irritating the hack out of others. (I realize that's the point, but a little consideration of you neighbors would probably be appreciated)

Being a good neighbor is part of having good neighbors.
Plus, have you ever been stuck behind someone with a loud exhaust.
Open pipes, harley, ricer with coffee can.
I'll do anything to not be behind them.

I will be doing in a couple of days, just waiting for my de-foulers to come in, I'll let you know how it works out. I had a buddy who had his F-150 straight piped and it sounded awesome.

If you plan to remove the cats, keep them, as it's illegal for you to sell the truck without cats (up to a $30K fine). It's also illegal for a dealer to take one in on trade and sell it. If you are lucky enough to sell it to an unknowing individual or dealer, they can come back and sue you.

I'd leave them on. They don't rob any horsepower that's noticable for street use. If you want to be loud and annoying, play your radio louder and open your windows.

i have a 2006 4.6 liter and dont have a muffler, it sounds loud and pretty nice. ill see if i can post a video on here for you to see, not having a muffler is legal as long as your pipes go passed the bed. my exhaust is inches away from being legal. im planning to get a new exhaust soon so it doesnt bother me, but when i got my inspection done i clamped on a foot long piece of pipe from an auto parts wharehouse and passed.

Im sorry to say open pipes on a 300hp turd does not sound good. It does not sound powerful. Sounds like crap. You want a good sounding exhaust you have to pay for it. Start with headers and go from there. You want loud then put some horsepower under the hood. Its disgraceful seeing the newer f-150's blap-blap-blapin down the highway sounding like one from 1971. Not to mention smelling like butt.

I have a suggestion Bucko. Threads about cat removals should be removed just like the street racing ones.

no cels? the pcm has to adjust for no cats, if it can .... O2 sensors gone?
You could be in for some internal engine damage.
Do you drive this on the street or off road only with no neighbors?
Seriously, do note Bucko's mention of the legal ramifications.
