Default Catalytic Converter

What is the price of a new catalytic converter for a 2006 F150? Where would be the best place to get one? The internet seems to have some good deals.

Thanks!!!!

Check summit if you haven't already, always seem to have the best prices. Hell, even ebay maybe.

If you are just looking to replace because there is an issue with it take it your dealer. Emission related items are typically under warranty for a minimum of 80k or 8 years. They should replace it for free.

Fords crappy fuel injectors went a few weeks ago (I posted my frustrations) and now that caused my catalytic converter to melt into a solid block of nothing good, causing me to have to replace it.

My question is, what is the best way to battle Ford and get them to pay for it? I know the converter has an 8 year, 80,000 mile warrenty on it (my car is at 53,000 miles) but I know how they like to try and weasel out on a warrenty. I do not want to bring up the fuel injector problem as they might try to use that to void the warrenty.

Anyone have a similar experience or advice for how to handle?

Thanks all!

So I bring it in to the dealer and tell them that my mechanic checked out the cat. converter and he saw it was fried. They say if it is, it is still under warrenty and will be replaced.

I get a call this afternoon saying that the injectors need to be replaced because they are just dumping fuel into the engine, which caused the converter to go bad. So they will need to charge me $850 to replace the injectors. The thing I "forgot" to tell them when I dropped it off this morning is that I got the injectors replaced 2 weeks ago! They already went bad and I had my mechanic replace all 8 injectors with Ford injectors! Riding in my car when they were going bad felt like riding on the back of a bull, and when I pulled my truck into Ford today, it was fine minus some power because of the cat. converter.

So, I have caught them in a lie, but will it do any good since all Ford seems to do is lie? If the injectors went bad already (there is no way they did) will they be responsible for replacing them since it has only been 2 weeks? Then, they can fulfill thier duty on the warrenty?

Any thoughts as its either they pay for it, or they WILL pay for it.

There is a recall on the fuel injectors, not sure if it's for the 2006.

Bigdog, I believe that it is an extended warrenty offered on the fuel injectors for the 2005 F150, not the 2006 like I have. The stupid thing is that the 2006 injectors are the same exact part number as the 2005 injectors, but they don't have the extended warrenty on it.

Insane, right? Does Ford do anything that makes any sense at all ever?

I totally appreciate the attempt!

I am just so frustrated with flat out lies. Even now that I caught them in a lie, who knows if they will even admit it and help me out. I am at the end of my rope with this!
