I'm having a hard time figuring out which (if any) of the universal high flow cats are CA legal. I've been looking at the Magnaflow cats and love the price but cant figure out which ones are legal. Anybody know?

The magnaflows should be perfectly fine, check to see if they say "CARB" legal anywhere on the site and also, when in doubt, give them a call and ask. I googled "carb legal high flow catalytic converters" and one of the first ones to pop up was Magna's. I would probably be getting one myself if I wasn't looking into a 13' Raptor lol. Hope this helps at all. Take care mj!
I retract last statement, after actually checking out some of the products... many of them say "not carb approved" Just be sure to check out each product you look into and see if they are "CARB" approved. If not, it wont fly in CA.
I'm pretty sure you can only replace every piece of the exhaust with exact OEM hardware. That means no hi-flo cats. No si/do. No cherry bombs, no glasspacks. They do a visual check when you do your inspection.

I replaced my headers on back and have a catback system installed. I have the stickers that came with the kit (Banks Powerpack) that verify it is CARB approved so that if anyone questions my exhaust set up I can show them authentication that it is legal in CA.
I already have headers that meet CARB so I know you can replace OEM. I couldn't for the life of me find any CARB hi flow cats. Maybe it was the couple beers I already had... thanks guys. If anyone finds some links post them up!

Sorry, I was sure I was right. Did it come with different cats, too?
Check out SEMA's site. They are there to protect the aftermarket and assist a manufacturer with state and federal laws. Their site may be able to provide a list of carb approved manufacturers for exhaust equipment.

I did end up finding a set of CARB cats. Magnaflow makes them. You do have to weld in o2 sensors before and after. Oh well. Much better and easier than paying a trillion dollars for OEM cats. Now my question is if I need to have two on each side or can I make it work with only 1 per side. I'd perfer one...
