Cant post in tech engine and transmission
Ok so it wont let me post in the engine and tranny how to part... So i guess ill ask here.
First my 4x4 wont go into 4low... 4Hi works fine but no 4low... What or why could this be?
Second i need to replace my egr valve. How mechanically demanding is this task? Should all the gaskets and everything i need come with the new egr?
Finally my truck is an 08 stx 4.6 2v
Again and as always thanks in advance

will not shift into 4L... Are you at a complete stop and transmission in Neutral ? if this is the case then I would look at the transfer case shift motor. EGR is simple but, I remember having to buy the gasket separately for a 5.4L 2V

If it's an STX it's likely a manual shift into 4L.
If it hasn't been in 4L in a long time, it can be a PITA to get it to go in, like techrep said, it has to be in neutral and at a dead stop.
As to the EGR valve, if it's throwing an EGR code, the solenoid is the more likely culprit than the valve itself.

On the turn **** (elect. shift) you might need to use a Ford wrench (hammer) on the motor to gently remind it to move into 4L

solenoids are less expensive and far more prone to failure than the valves that they control, but it's your truck.
