Can you swap f150 rear end for f250 rear end
I have a 2004 f150 Supercab with the 6.5 bed and the 3.73 ... 7050 .... limited slip rear end. I am having probelms with the rear end and will likely need to either gut it or swap it out entirely. I have access to a very cheap f250 3.73 rear end that i can pick up for next to nothing (a relative totaled the front end of their truck).
The question is can i swap out the original f150 rear end with the f250 rear end? If i can and i do the swap, will this increase my payload significantly? I already have the 7050 payload but find i often need just that little bit more and would like the bigger buffer for rear payload that I would get from an f250 rear end. I would replace the entire rear end leafs and all. Even if it fits physically the questions in my mind are things like brake systems and will my master cylinder handle larger brakes, and things like that. I have not seen the f250 rear end yet so i cant see if there are obvious differences (it's out of town and I would have to go get it).
Any thoughts on this one? Or is this just a stupid thing to ask?

First off, you have 6 bolt hubs while the 250 should have 8 bolt, are you willing to deal with that? I'm going to assume that the brake calipers are different between the 150 and 250, if they're the same then you shouldn't have any issues between the two systems. If they aren't - too many variables to guess for sure. This is all assuming the spring perches etc are the same between the two axels.
Just changing the rearend is not going to increase your load capacity. You still have to factor in the springs, frame etc into it. You load capacity is still based on the weakest factor you have. I don't know if the spring perches, etc are in the same locations between the 150 and 250, or if the frames are even the same width.
If it was me and I needed a different rearend, I think I'd head for the salvage yard and see what they have available first. I'd be leary of too many incompatibilties with this combo.
