you guys have obviously never ridden in a wrangler with the doors off. theres nothing like it. dont listen to these guys. the whole power door lock and windows thing is easily fixed by just some quick disconects at the hinge for the wires. how do you think the new wranglers do it? they almost all have power windows/mirrors/locks etc. they have a connector at the door. when i get home tonight ill look at the hinge and see if its feasable. as long as you dont adjust where the hinges are on both the door and sill it will line back up perfectly when you put it back on. i say do it and show everyone that it can be done. like i said guys they drive jeep CHEROKEE'S which have all the power junk too do this all the time. the links give you an idea how.

I think it all comes back to the mirrors though.

Do you plan on addressing that? Do you plan on driving on public streets?

Wrangler with the doors off is way cool. the newer updated wranglers with power windows and door locks use a spring loaded contact point much like the older Wranglers do for the rear door for the third brake light there are no wires that need to be disturbed, cut or otherwise considered. On the older wranglers they have a 2 piece hinge where the pin is fixed to one half with a nut that keeps it in place, thus no need to adjust the door. the mirror issue. it is a federal law that you MUST have a left side mirror to operate on public roads. I use a motorcycle mirror through the hinge pin hole. works awesome. For the dome light they make a spring clip to keep the button depressed. looks like a clothes pin spring lights out

nicely said. the whole concept seems easy enough but since i might as well be the first to ever try, i have a feeling it might be pretty challenging (since there aren't any directions on how to take off doors). i think that the whole mirror issue wont really be a problem, i can make my own kind of rig to make it legal.

man i wouldnt do it to a new f150 unless you really want to just mount the mirrors to the windo frame or the front quarter panels i was thinking about it the other day because of wranglers its such an amazing felling

The big thing that is likely to get you a ticket is the lack of a door sill. It is usually required on all vehicles on public roads.

Jeeps have a sill along the bottom edge of the door designed to keep loose crap in your truck. The mirrors can certainly get you a ticket, but from an old Bronco owner, it's the door sill that will sink you. Most guys who want to mod a truck into a doorless wheeler fab up some plate to make the sill.

just buy a jeep. with the doors off you will have animals, insects, dirt, pollen, rain, and road grime ALL INSIDE your truck. If you do take the doors off at least buy a tarp to cover it when it rains. And also what about leaving it unattended in a parking lot or elsewhere?
