4x4 For Real!
If you want to add more lift without swapping out your whole lift kit, get some coilovers. That'll be the proper way to do it. If you use the struts that give you an extra two inches, over your six in lift. It'll give you horrible angles. Been there, done that. I should be ordering coilovers within the next week, and the Camburg UCA within the next month.

Im pretty sure that the 0-2 adjustable shock that bilstein has for the 04-08 ford f150 will work with a 6inch spacer. I do believe that they also have a 5100 shock that is designed to get rid of the big spacer. Im not sure what would be better to go with, without have balljoint and cv problems.
Think of it as a parallelogram (box) with 4 sides consisting of lower control arm (dropped 6 inches by the drop bracket), knuckle, upper control arm, and coilover assembly. If you take one of those 4 parts, say the coilover assembly, and add 2 inches with a spacer, or raise the coil 2 inches with a perch (ie. Bilstein 5100), now the coilover assembly is larger than the opposite side (knuckle) of the parallelogram. The box is now tweaked. You can only introduce so much angle before the suspension becomes non-functional due to binding. 0-2 inches at the coilover assembly is what you have to play with ... if your UCA is level now. If your UCA is already tweaked you have less. The camburg UCA helps correct bad angles, but not completely.

So can I go with the 0-2 bilstein and set it a 1 inch of lift to get the extra inch or no? Or get the bilstein that are for a 6inch lift and take out my big spacer and put a 1 inch spacer in? If I can't do that, I guess my only option would be to lower the rear of the truck to get the truck sitting level.

So it's to my understanding that the lift plus level will only wear on your cv's in 4x4 because in 2wd they are not engaged. Yes your ball joints are at a not ideal angle but with the camburg uca's it would take a lot to wear out the uniballs. Then you can get heim joint tie rods from readylift to make it harder to wear those out. They are expensive but when you factor in how much it would cost to buy a whole other kit. Correct if I'm wrong tho...
