X2.

I did a complete top end on my motorcycle a few nights ago. Ended up with a retarded intake cam by 90 degrees. Luckily, after looking at pictures on the net I knew exactly what I had done, opened it up next morning and it started first kick. Luckily the valves didn't hit the piston while I was trying to start it the night before.

Toshbar, when I did my bike's engine rebuild, I had to take the cams and chains out a couple of times because of rushing to hear it run. Finally took my time then verified and reverified prior to starting and it was good. Slow and steady is usually faster in the long run.

I took my time. Problem was that there are two index marks on the cams 90* apart, and I thought there was only one. I put the wrong index mark where the other one should have been is all. The other one was hidden by the head.

I flipped which side of my engine are "left" and "right". The engine looks forward, making the driver's side the "left" side of it, and I forgot that. So the chains were lined up backwards on each side, making me 180 off.
