Default cam phasers and timing

Hey all I have a question I have an 08 f150 5.4 I did the phasers vvts chains tensioners and guides after the old phasers failed completely and left the truck dead (which is also odd I think). I have done these in the past and I double and triple check all my work. Problem is I am now getting 420 and 421 codes. I took to dealer to verify and they say the vehicle is out of time. I know for a fact all links were dead on with marks. They also stated cyls 2 and 5 are not firing correctly and pretty much dead. They want 1500 to go in and fix timing (which I know is correct) is their anything else that could cause this issue? Vehicle runs good except under load when it starts bucking and mil flashing. New plugs and cops at same time. I am going back in to reset timing just as safe measure but I am still 100% it was dead on. Please help! Thanks

Maybe a defect in the aftermarket kit. I have read bad things about anything aftermarket for camphasers.

Would a bad cam phaser set off a 420 or 421 code tho? That's where I'm lost I figured I would get a timing code if it was off or bad

I just had my engine rebuilt and all timing components brand new. Started having kinda rough idling but only at a stop and computer showed random/multiple misfires. The problem was caused by a defective timing chain tensioner that was leaking. The job was done by professionals, they didn't do anything wrong, just faulty equipment. It happens...

Yea I know all about faulty cheap equipment
I am not getting any misfire codes (odd) just 420 and 421 no power surging under load and bad fuel mileage. They claim (ford garage) that the cats and 02s are fine.
