Calling All Edge Evo Experts! 4.6 Question
I have a 2007 4.6 SCab and want to run the Evo BUT the previous owner installed a K&N intake and flowmaster exhaust. I know the 5.4's have issues running lean with a CAI and the Evo but do the 4.6's have the same problem? I'd rather keep my $60 rather than go the PHP route if possible as I'm in the market for a used Evo.

I'm not an expert but:
Try it and see. Many claim they don't have issues with Edge Evo and 5.4's when running a CAI.
Easy enough to switch back to stock.
If it runs lean then do the upgrade.
I don't have a CAI but have an Edge Evo on my 4.6 and it made a very noticeable difference. Well worth the $$$'s.
There was an Edge Evo for sale on this forum a couple days ago. They come up fairly often.

Hi.
Not familiar with the type of MAF in an '07 4.6... but
If yer MAF looks like this:
I'ts a slot-style MAF and depends on the CAI intake tube to provide the correct geometry for the venturi within which it samples the intake air - most CAI's do not provide the accuracy necessary - K&N especially. Volant is another. S&B seems to actually have engineers who both care and possess functioning brains.
In which case you will need custom tuning to provide a corrected MAF Transfer Function.
IF yer MAF looks like this:
It's inside it's own venturi housing and you will generally be fine running a canned tuning device.
The F150 transitioned from a MAF in a venturi housing to a slot-style MAF sometime beteween 2006 and 2008 on the 4.6L.
Point is you can't tell if yer inducing lean conditions without direct measurements of AFR in open loop. No SOPT, no CEL, nada. So - folks 'claiming' they are fine without data to back it up are on glue. Not something you'd want to just leave to chance, IMHO. That's why a custom MAF TF exists for each and every major aftermarket CAI/WAI. Each was constructed from actual testing.
good luck
