Default Cai and fuel economy

Does a cai really give you noticably improved fuel economy - if driven not like an idiot? Friend has a -6 screw - he's trying to find someway of improviing fuel economy (financial circumstances changed) in his truck obviously he'll never get 30mpg but a 2-5 mpg increase from one or two mods would help him - anyways - what do you guys w/ cai's think? Any increase?
