A/C blows hot when idling

Really! This shop is incompetent in my book.
I told you guys that our trucks are old some are now 10-11 years old. All A/C system will eventually leaks. Yours, I'm sure has leaked a little. If I were you I would ask an A/C shop to evacuate and refill to the correct amount of refrigerant. It is the cheapest way for you.

One other place to check is the blend door. It may be that the heater flap is not completely shut, and therefore heat from the heater core is blending in with the cooled air from the A/C into the ducts.

I agree Bucko.
Try the Max or rescirc setting to see if any better. It should be a little better. If its a lot better than maybe the heat door is partly open.
What is the temp coming out of vent?
What is it at idle?
What is it when your cruising?
Good thing you changed that clutch because it was bad.

Hmm, blend door......
Interesting you say that. When idling, the windshield at the defrost ducts starts to get a little foggy. Not wide spread, just a small spot right above the middle defrost ducts. It doesn't happen all the time, I suppose the outside temp/humidity has to be right.
I don't imagine the blend door is easy to get to/check is it? I need to get a Haynes manual for this truck.
As far as leaking freon or previous maintenance I have no idea. Bought the truck used and it's pretty much had the problem since. The day I purchased it was the coolest day we had in a month, I should have known better and went back the next day when it was back in the 90s. My problem to fix now though...

Bucko;4279708]Wrong. If the system is holding the required pressure, then the Freon is fine, and there would be no leaks. Freon is not something that requires changing; it does not get old or stale. You add only if a leak was enough to cause the pressure in the system to be low. If an A/C shop checked it and states the pressure is good, then you have other issues.
We shall see....I'm sure you have never been wrong before.

A/C work is tricky and depends on ambient temp, and all A/C shops are not the same. The pressure that requires for the compressor to kick in has a large range, a marginal A/C shop says the pressure is okay doesn't mean it can't be low.
We shall see....I'm sure you have never been wrong before.

Any updates with this issue. Reason being is that I am suffering from this same issue, and this Texas heat sucks!! Haha
