You can buy a Bluetooth OBD II adapter for $25 and the Torque Pro app for another $5 to view this data without having to get a programmer.

Clutch change done. I'm pretty sure that's gonna fix the problem. Now I know what people meant about the loud fan. When trying to do the "calibrated bubble wrap" test, it practically pulled the sheet out of my hand at idle vs not holding it at all before. A/C is MUCH colder. True test will be when I head out this afternoon.

Thanks for all the help guys!!

You can also use that to read and reset codes. Very handy and cheap.

Well, it's back to the drawing board. The A/C still sucks. It's certainly a little better, but still noticeably warmer when sitting at a light. Even at highway speed, it isn't as cold as it should be. For a standard cab, I would think it should freeze you out at highway speeds. It keeps it comfortable at highway speeds running on high. Anything other than that it just doesn't cut it. It hasn't changed any since changing the fan clutch, I just haven't been driving it much. Shop checked A/C servicing and it has the right amount of freon.

Any ideas?

If they verified you have the right amount and therefore don't have a leak, you might need a new compressor.

Consider having your lines flushed and check for debris, then vacuum and refill. If that doesn't solve it, you might need a new compressor or at least compressor clutch.

Really! This shop is incompetent in my book.
I told you guys that our trucks are old some are now 10-11 years old. All A/C system will eventually leaks. Yours, I'm sure has leaked a little. If I were you I would ask an A/C shop to evacuate and refill to the correct amount of refrigerant. It is the cheapest way for you.

If the pressure was checked and labeled as good, then here are no leaks. If the fan clutch was replaced and drawing good air, I would suspect the dryer. It's job is to remove any moisture in the system if there were leaks/repairs performed in the past. Any good A/C repair shop will replace the dryer if they open the system (i.e. replace a line, compressor, evaporator, or condenser).

I would not toss a compressor at this if it's holding pressure, and the A/C shop stated there are no leaks. Even a rebuilt one is an unneeded repair if the system is hold pressure.
