Default A/C blows cold and then hot. Heat works fine.

I've been experiencing an intermittent hot A/C problem in my 2006 F150 xl with a manual **** to switch temperature. It blows very nice and cold but at random times while idling, driving, accelerating, braking, anything really, it will start to blow the outside air temperature at me. Never switches to the defrost or floor. Just changes temperature.

Sometimes it seems to help if I cycle through the controls randomly, but other times like today nothing helps at all. But in 30 seconds or 30 minutes (it's totally random) it will start blowing cold again.

I was leaning towards a blend door or blend door actuator problem but I'm not sure now based on what I've read on this site because if I change the switch to heat it gets immediately hotter and I've never had any problems with cold air blowing in the winter. I've also been told to check the **** and see if it's cracked.

If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it.

Check the wiring to the low pressure switch by the battery. My wiring was broken on my truck and caused the same issue. Cut the bad spot out and added some new wire and good as new

Is the system full? Low pressures can cause erratic cycling.

I have filled it with refrigerant before. I will check it again but I was assuming that was not the issue because it did come out so cold some of the time.

Thanks for the hint on the wiring I'll check that out.

Its much more complicated than that, even a low system will cool during certain temp conditions. You have a leak, find it, repair, vacuum and recharge.
