Default Buying a damaged truck?

I'm thinking about buying a truck that is damaged because I think it'd save me money. I'd fix it up myself. I'd make sure not to get one with a bent frame or something with a spendy part(s) to replace. What do you think? Will I lose money or save money? Is it worth it?
Thanks!

I had to pop a dent out of a rear door ,and put a bumper , bumper filler and grill in my truck and all new tire's plus do the plugs and cam phasers, and I payed $5000 for my truck it had 163,000 miles on it when I bought it , was it worth it , I think so, I have about $8000 in it now total !! buying a fixer-upper is just a point of view , if you can do the work it needs and save money and make it look like its the perfict truck for you , then more power to you!!!!

If you know what you're doing then it's a great idea. If not I'd stay away.

I think I'll try to find one that was in a read end collision. Once I do find my truck, I want to lift it. Is it possible to put a 6" Rough Country lift on it, a 2" Rough Country body lift on it, and a Rough Country leveling kit on it? What's the best tire size with that set-up if so? Last but not least, what are the best gears to regear into? I'm not going to pull anything more than maybe an ATV or two and thats about it. Mostly daily driving and offroading/hunting

Why would you do that to a truck. If you want a lift fine, but why rig one together by mixing 3 different types of lifts. Its fine to save money and fixer up but if you lift, do it right with 1 solid lift so it dont ride like a brick sled

That's a common way to lift.

I only know of one SAS'd 04-08. But that was completely custom and cost 50k. OGterror for anyone wondering.

As long as the lift kit uses lift SPRINGS youre fine. DO NOT. DO NOT stack spacers. That's asking for trouble. If you're going to go through the trouble of a 2" body lift, just get a 3".

And I recommend an AAL for the real leafs.

The lift kit should already bring it close to level, lifting 2" in front will make it REALLY nose high. An AAL will bring you closer to level.

IT depends, i bought a Z71 with a minor fender bender. The original owner used all china parts.. So i bought it for $8000, replaced hood, fender and grill then sold the Chinese parts for the same amount i bought the originals for and then sold the truck for $11500.

But then again i bought a 2003 Gti for $3700with a "bad clutch" and it ended up being the crank shaft grinding against the block and it needed a new motor. So i replaced the motor and sold it for $6300, and broke even.

So it all depends how bad, if you plan on keeping it and if your doing all the labor ur self and have access to cheap parts.

Its really only a good idea if you have access to a shop and know exactly what youre doing.

I bought a wrecked Cutlass Supreme that had been rolled and fixed it up and sold it when I worked for a friend in his bodyshop. If it wasnt for working there I never wouldve been able to fix it.

I paid $580 for the car and sold it for $3500.
