Default buyin a 04 f150 5.4, any suggestions?

Well i found a 04 black extended cab f150 fx4 with 90k on the clock in extremely nice shape. price isnt too bad for around here so i will probably ****** it up on monday. any suggestions on what mods to do out the gate? i want to get the most out of it as possible without breaking the bank. probably gonna order a set of headers with high flows and run 2.5in true dual exhaust all the way out within the first week. i've been reading up a little and the Gotts mod seems to be popular among everyone for the intake. Programmar wise? who has the best? i want it to hang with my buddies 09 titan! he just has a superchips, k&n intake and duals.

Congrats on the truck and welcome to F150forum!
the titans are lighter faster truck. the 5.6 is a quick motor in their truck.
the best programmer out for the F150 is the Gryphon tuner. it is basically a rebadged edge with custom tailored tunes for your truck.
if you want real performance roush makes a supercharger as well as several other companies. have yet to see a turboed 5.4

don't buy a CAI or TBS

i just don't think they do a whole lot to a stock truck for the money you pay. There are some benefits. just don't buy an oiled one cause it can coat your MAF if too much oil is applied and if not enough then it doesn't filter well. I would do the gotts mod if i were to mess with air.
it's all a matter of personal opinion. i'd do it if i went supercharched and needed a lot more air and had a MAF that could read the new airflow.

i really like the JLT ram air. dont be fooled by the name its not ram air but its a nice air filter set up. search it on bing, they are about 200 and for 500 you can get a matching sct with it.

one i found is 13k might seem pricey to some but for the shape its in i feel its worth it especially in NC. trucks go for crazy prices here anyways, i dont understand it. NADA is like 16 and some change. i'm just worried about buyin with that much mileage if it will come back to bite me.

if everything is in good order that is a hell of a deal.
wish the truck market had backed off when i was buying. a year ago you couldn't touch an 04 fx4 for that...
