Default Burnning rubber ! Off my dash !!

Opened my truck door one morning to find there was a electrical fire in it the night before. Luckily it ran out of oxygen and put its self out. My Insurance found a loophole, to get out of paying for most of it. I'm gonna attempt to fix it myself.

Wow. Curious to know how they got out of paying for most of it?

Was the loophole that you'd hardwired some lights?

This had to be due to the owner wiring something in to the truck that was a non factory option. No way could an insurance company get out of this without it being something an owner installed.

That's not going to be an easy wiring fix.

Nope ! The insurance company says the cause of fire was a failure between the dash wire harness and the body wire harness. The insurance doesn't cover what caused the fire , only the resulting damage. In other words there not paying for either wire harness or cost to replace. They are paying for a new dash, clean interior , hood release cable , and a few other melted parts. After research and talking to other people in the insurance industry, this is the case in almost all insurance companies polices involving a fire. I wish it would have been something I wired like a radio or lights . The full wire harness's are expensive and hard to find.

I don't think I'd settle for that excuse from my insurance company. If its not something you did I find it hard that they aren't paying for this....
