Yeah, I knew the others will return to stock, I just didn't want the hassle. The dealership I have to work with looks for any reason not to cover something. Even if you pulled the tune, and left the unit for a "monitor" these knuckle heads would figure out a way to say "nope, not under warranty". I would rather have the monitoring capability and easier modification of tune with the dash mounted units, but decided on the other route with a downlodader.
It's a business and warranty work (just like your health insurance) doesn't pay the shop the same rate they would charge someone without a warranty. If you want to mod, do it to your heart's content so long as you accept the associated risks. Personally, I'm waiting until my extended warranty is up, then I'm going to buy my mods so I don't end up in the situation you are afraid of.

two of my friends have the bullydog triple dog or whatever its called. one on a 08 f150 and one on a 01 silverado. yea, it made a slight difference but its not impressive. ANd for the price they paid for them, they paid as much as I did for my custom tunes that made much more of a difference. Pretty much any canned tune will just make slight differences.

See, your warranty is an insurance policy weather you want to think of it as such or not. Your local shop does the work, then bills whomever your warranty is through (probably Ford MoCo in this case, or some other third party). The insurance company then has the choice to rubber stamp a payment at a previously agreed upon price, or sending a claims adjuster if they suspect foul play of any sort.
Now insurance companies are in business to make money and look after their share holders. ANY reason to deny the claim is reason enough. In this case the truck was tampered with in a way that was not part of the accepted risk in the original insurance agreement. Thus, if there is any link between a failed part and your unauthorized modification. No payment, contract breached. Now the shop has to eat the cost or go through the hassel of trying to bill you back. Which would no doubt lead to yet another whiny-*** poster crying about being "screwed" at the "stealership".
Sadly, I don't work for a dealer. I'm a mainframe programmer.

There is no fight JLindsay32. The conversation contains information that both the OP and everyone else needs to consider before altering the programming of a vehicle which is under warranty.

Just a update
It's been a while since anyone has posted anything about the bullydog on a 150. I read everything on here before buying one and wanted to let anyone who is or was thinking of using it that it does work. I called bullydog support ahead of time to feel them out and tell them my concerns especially about how word of their support was bad. They helped me all the way through. I had no hang ups at all. Also the gas mileage is insane and the hp is nice. I just keep in mind that the drive train isn't made for much more than stock so I just use it when I need it. Truck even sounds better. I have a 06 super crew 5.4 lariat. I see 22 mpg on flat roads. Best before was 17 mpg. I hope this helps someone and thank you all for the info you share. It is invaluable. Also it's cheaper on Amazon and the hp was very noticeable for my 125k mile engine. I guess the results could vary. Bullydog website $500/ Amazon $325.
