Broken vacuum line, pics
Changed my battery today, noticed this vacuum line was broke.
No codes in truck. What does this do?
Broken line behind battery, goes to some connector on firewall
Closeup behind battery where it goes
Believe it is supposed to go to one of these lines on the driver side wheel (one of two in center of pic)

No noise. I assume because it's a clean break the Wheel hub just stays locked.
Need to order the lines and fix.
Does driving with the hub locked hurt anything? I assume not.....

Damn those cheesy vacuum lines. You can literally just find some rubber tubing and a couple zip ties and fix it. I would suggest taking the rubber hose of your iwe also known as the hubs and blowing them out with air, if water gets inside that vacuum line, it can go into your intake manifold and it can also make its way to your hub and wheel bearings and cause them to self destruct.

Thanks guys. I have no idea how long it has been broken, could have been broken for a LONG time and have never noticed.
Anyway, I have 2 options it looks like.
1)Go get a line and just splice out the broken part, cheap and easy.
2)Buy the entire ford lines(includes all new lines from IWE's to solenoid). It's $75, see this ebay link:

Since the truck is 10 yrs old, leaning toward replacing all the lines...........

For 75 bucks I would replace all of them while your iwe and bearings and everything else in your 4wd system are still good. No point in skimping and having something else go wrong down the road because you took the cheap way. Who knows if the lines are broken anywhere else either.

I have a couple spots that I've had to splice new hose on mine. It works fine but in the spring I plan on buying all new vacuum line like posted above.

Awesome just ordered all the lines. It even comes with all the factory clips that secure the line to the frame, should be easy install.
I also put my finger on the broken line, I feel vacuum in 2wd and when I select 4wd the vacuum goes away, looks like solenoid is good.
One last question, since the broken line is sucking vacuum into the intake, do I need to temporarily plug that or is it OK as is? I guess there is a small vacuum leak now at all times. Truck runs fine.

You could plug it just for some added security, but i don't think it's required though as long as your not driving it through a lake.
