All I have EVER run is ceramic pads and I don't have warped rotors. Only reason I don't have ceramics on the front now is when I needed them no one in town had them. I went with the Wagner Thermoquiet.

No such thing as lifetime pads, they all wear out.

I know how you feel about brake dust all over everything. Black rim, like mine, you don't notice it as bad, but I sure do.

I put two good coats of wax on my rims and it seems to repel the brake dust pretty well. You may want to try that...... or new brake pads. But, I just cannot see, with only 5000 miles on my truck, replacing the pads up front.

Just my opinion

Thanks NGM. I knew obusnizzle wasn't entirely correct. I had ceramics on my GP and when I sold it at 40K miles the rotors were still in near perfect condition with no signs of being warped.

I knew ceramics weren't as bad as he was making them out to be.

Don't have an opinion on ceramic brakes but will offer this: don't use cheap parts store brand brakes they will ruin your rotors and usually don't have the stopping power of better quality brakes. Spend the extra money and buy good brakes i.e. Bendix, Wagner, Motorcraft, etc.

entirely correct? Instead of worrying about brake dust, did you actually understand what I meant by transferring thermal energy?

I understand exactly what you mean about transferring thermal energy but you also mentioned the longetivity of the rotors and I said that as long as they last for 30k-40k miles then I'm ok with putting ceramic pads on them if it redces the brake dust. I don't know about you but I'm ok with changing out rotors between 30k and 40k miles. I can fork over a little bit of money every 3 years. I'm tired of scrubbing my wheels once a week.
