Question Break Dust Build up

So I just got my truck a couple of months ago and like to keep it looking good. But my nice shiny rims only last for a day. Seems like the very next day after I wash it, the rims are covered in break dust. I tried using plain turtle wax to repel the dust but it didnt really help. Any suggetions on how to repel the dust???

simple green will take it right off. The OEM brake pads are horrible for dust, get yourself a set of ceramic brake pads put on.

new brake pads are the only way to keep the dust from forming. they will also help the truck stop better since the stock pads arent the best to begin with

Ceramics are the best for non dusting BRAKE pads. A good high quality pad will not dust as bad.

you will warp your rotors with ceramic pads. Think about it, ceramics are used because they shed heat very efficiently. Where will the heat go? Thermal energy, like all other energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only transfered. That will transfer to the aluminum calipers and the iron rotors, which does not take very well to a heavy influx of thermal energy.

So what are the best kind of pads obus?? I'm gonna switch to ceramic pads when it's time to do my brakes unless there is a better option. I'm tired of my wheels lookin' dirty after a week of driving.

are you worried about adequate stopping ability and the longevity of your brakes or are you worried about how shiny your rims are? Those the rims with Po-Boys wheel polish and use either OEM pads Ford or Motorcraft or use Bendix.

Well as long as my brakes last 30k then I don't think I'll be worried. I mean my truck has 31k on the clock now and the brakes have never been changed. I'm just tired of having to scrub the wheels clean once a week when I wash the truck. It really is annoying to me.

hmm not sure I wanna take the risk of messing any thing up, might just deal with the dust. How bout lifetime breaks, do the create as much or any dust?
