brakes acting up.

brakes acting up.
Recently, my '06 F150 started having some vibrations/alarming clunkiness in the brake pedal. By clunkiness, I mean I could feel clunking in the pedal. It would only last for a second. The vibration was a vibrating pulsating feeling in the pedal while lightly braking. This afternoon the vibrating was accompanied with a very stiff brake pedal. Then the abs and brake lights came on on the dash and it all stopped. Maybe it didn't all stop at all. It's been very intermittent. Any ideas?

brake plusing is a sign of warped rotors, how many miles on truck? last time brakes were replaced? how much pad life is left?
so the ABS light/brake light is on?
so the ABS light/brake light is on?

It's got 106000 miles. I've had for a year or so. The brakes were good at the time of purchase. I'll have it looked at either way but the pulsating isn't what u would associate with warping. It felt more like the abs. And yes the idiot lights on the dash came on today.

So... the abs light is on. We checked and cleared the codes earlier and came up with 1222 and 1237. The abs light is back on and the brakes no longer seem to be acting up. Any ideas what that means?

C1222 is wheel speed mismatch
C1237 is wheel speed sensor rear center input signal missing
Could be a wheel speed sensor, or a abs module, or wheel speed sensor ring

Check the wheel bearings on both sides. jack up one side and try to move the tire up toward the fender. I have seen cases where the a worn out bearing can cause a false read on the wheel speed sensors and in turn cause a sharp rapid vibration in the brake pedal and while doing so make the pedal very difficult to push. Hope this helps!
