Brake Rotor Question
Hey guys, been off the forum a while.
I got my truck at 60k and now it's at 125k miles and I'm pretty sure the brakes have NEVER been done so I'm replacing all pads and rotors.
I don't bring it to the track and only pull my boat which weighs under 2000 pounds so I don't need to increase breaking performance much with fancy rotors or ceramic pads.
After reading a bunch of posts on the topic I've decided to go with Wagner Thermoquiet Semi Metallic pads (found them for ~$30 a set on Amazon). However I'm not sure on the rotors. There are a ton of posts about slotted/drilled rotors on here but what are some reputable brands for some plain jane rotors?
Every auto store sells there different brands at different prices and I just want to get some OEM quality or slightly better.
Right now I'm considering AC Delco Advantage rotors. Fronts are ~$100 each and rears ~$50 each. But would it be worth it to go Motorcraft?
Also my truck is 2wd so I need the front rotors w/ hub assembly.
Any input is appreciated,
Thanks.

If you want OEM quality, buy OEM.
Any store brand top-shelf would suffice also if you want upscale. Bendix, Affinia, Wagner... I'd rate them all about equal. They all come with the bearing. Don't forget to get the new spindle nuts to boot.

The stock pads and rotors that were on my truck were garbage.

Yeah I had heard of a few guys having warping issues with the OEM so I was hoping there was a brand with a better reputation.
However, I decided to splurge a bit and bough a kit from Brake Performance that includes all pads and slotted and dimpled rotors. It ended up being $530 which was less than $200 more than buying some bargain rotors and the Wagner pads. The pads were basically free since the kit was on sale so if I find they dust too much or something I can buy some Wagners pretty cheap.
Appreciate the input though.

I bought my D/S rotors from them also about 1 1/2 years ago. Greatest thing I did. I was going cheap for a while and buying rotors from the auto store. Every 6 months about, I would have to replace the fronts because of warping.
the only problem I had, driver side rotor had a crack at the edge about an inch long. Usually they want you to send them back for a replacement. I took a picture of it and sent it to them. They sent me a new right away. Great people.

Awesome, that is good to hear! I felt comfortable knowing they had a lifetime warranty and claim made in the USA. Did you use their brand pads? I stuck with their semi metallic premium pads as I was told ceramics aren't great for towing.

I buy the same ones for $200 for all 4, with ceramic pads. Ouch.

Well mine is a 2 wheel drive so i need the fronts with the hub which cost about double the 4x4 fronts. But if you got yours for $200 that's still a great deal. Also ceramics were only $7 more. Oh well, it was still a good deal compared to most others out there right now. They were already 30% off so yours must've been on a great sale.
