Default brake question?

hi, just changed rear rotor and brake pads last night. problem i had was the outer pad was so tight i couldn't even square it up to the rotor. so i hit it with a file till it slid smoothly and touched up inner as well. my question is if anybody else has had this issue. it ruined the outer part of the rotor so maybe the last person had this issue and didnt do anything with it.thanks for your input,m.

Did mine recently and went on easily. Sure you had correct pads or rotors

front or rear pads?

if it was the fronts you were working on what exactly is the problem? were you unable to get the new pads to slide on to the slide on the caliper bracket?

I always file the sides of the caliper and the new pads so that they slide smoothly, I've seen pads get locked up from imperfections. If the rotor was ruined I would check to make sure th caliper is sliding right. if the pistons are extending but not retracting all the way it will drag that side of the rotor and blue it up.
