Brake problem/Question
I went to the mountains in Cloudcroft NM this weekend and I was coming down a pretty bumpy hill putting a little pressure on the brakes. All of a sudden my brake pedal started shaking under my foot and when I tried to push it harder, it felt harder to push and wasn't brakeing the truck. After about 3 seconds, it stopped and the brakes were back to normal. Anyone else ever had this problem. It has happened a couple times, always going downhill, and with a few bumps.

I was readin up on ABS, but I was wondering if I would feel it in the pedal? Also, it seemed as if the brakes started working less and it wasn't alowing me to stop. I hope that's what it was. It's kinda scary going downhill and feeling like the brakes aren't working.

You definitely feel the ABS in the pedal. ABS kicks in when the wheels try to lock up from braking, so, yes it feels like you have no more stopping power.
Try taking those downhill runs in a lower gear.

THe pedal vibrates and it will decrease the power to the brakes to prevent you from locking them up (anti-lock) Otherwise you mide lock them and go into an uncontroled skid. May need to take that road a little slower.

If you want to get the "feel" of your ABS, just head out to a straight, empty gravel road, get up to 25 mph and then stomp fully on the brakes. You should feel a pulsing in the pedal and maybe hear a slight griding-like noise.

the gas vapors between the rotor and the pads made the brakes go down.. aka brake fade. that or the the brake fluid got to its boiling point and broke down ..
