You see a lot of brake pads out now days what is the best for a F150?


My 08 F150 supercrrew 4x4 with about 12000 miles on it doesn't seam to be stooping the way it should. the peddle seams a bit spongy and it seams that it takes a longer time to stop then when the truck was new.

the stock brakes don't last long, i have heard guys burning thru a set in less than 10k miles. so it's quite possibly yours are in need of replacement already, it has alot to do with how and where you drive.

they are not squealing or pulling or any ting just not stopping as well as they did when the truck was new.

A bout 2 months ago I was thinking I may have had a stuck caliper on the driver's side. the driver's side was still hot for about 20 minutes after I got home. I went to wash the truck and the water hit the rims /tires and sizzled. I few days latter when I was able to get to the fire station I checked them with our heat gun and both sides where about the same temp.

I have just in the past few weeks noticed the breaks not working as good. Now if I have to do a hard stop the truck stops quickly and I can hear the tires ( sound slike the rear) squeal almost like they locked up.

What would be the best breaks pads to put on? I was thinking ceramic or carbon fiber.

I Plain on doing a little bit of towing with a utility trailer. mostly an ATV nothing to heavy like. I have a cap on the truck and do go off road some

But the worst is the traffic I encounter going to work it is a lot of times stop and go (going home is very light)

i have always been a fan of ceramic, dust is almost none and they rarely squeal if at all, only drawback is cost. hawk makes some really good pads, i ran those on trucks in the past and liked them alot. here's the link to american trucks, shipped for free, good price too

Wow, through brakes in 10-12K miles? My '06 F150 has 24K miles and still has roughly 1/2 the pad left. I only do city driving, except for going up/down the hill (really they are mountains) here in CO, sometimes with my buddy's fishing boat in tow.

I haven't speced out brakes for the 04-08 F150s, but EBC made some low dust, good stopping brakes for the 97-03 F150s. May want to check them out. I had the green stuff brakes and they were awesome. Even complained about the squeal during break in and they sent me a new pair for free, that are sitting in the garage never openned. Of course after about 5 days of breaking in the squeal disappeared.

yea they oem pads aren't the best, mine have over half too and i've been on 35's for the last 15k miles or so. i think some trucks got a crappy lot of brake pads or something. the guy i was talking about tows his boat alot, i mean it's only a 17' foot fiberglass with a 200 on it, maybe 4k pounds, my ranger used to eat pads like M&M's, but i was running 33's on it and driving like the rebel too, lol

My biggest complaint about the oem brakes, is the damn dust. Have to wash my rims once every 2 weeks, if not more often to keep the fronts from turning that reddish greyish brake dust color.

yea i hear the there, imagine rolling the rims i have, the front face is chrome, the black lip is aluminum, and i wash them 3 times a week, if i don't it looks like dried blood on my rims, ucky..

well i just bought a 2004 f150 with 145000 miles on it and the guy said they were stock so i took the tires off and checked it out and they looked good but i replaced them anyway just because it was sqeakin alot and also 120,000 miles is alot for an 08 r u shore that is the correct number you put on there and i would also like to ask u if u been having any issues with your truck cus i got alot of issues with mine and no answers

145k miles on stock brakes, i call BS on that one, you would have zero brake pad and eating the rotors away. he has 12k miles? what problems do you have?
