I have an 06 FX4 and have the brake dust problem too. The ceramic brake pad is the way to from what I've heard.

The brake dust is a common charactaristic of OEM Ford brakes. Ceramic pads will greatly reduce the dust accumulation but also you might notice a slight reduction in effectiveness of the brakes. Dust shields are controversial peices. I had a set on my old car and I warped three sets of rotors before I figured out that the source of this was the covers not allowing the heat buildup to escape. Some people claim to never have had a problem but I think driving style and enviroment have alot to do with that.

Yeah the brake dust issue is common for these trucks. Ceramic pads will great reduce the amount of brake dust. If you don't switch out your brake pads just clean your wheels weekly to keep the brake dust from baking on there and pitting your wheels. If it does then 000 steel wool does a pretty good job at removing it.

I clean mine about once a week or so, I use a product for cleaning rims. I then use turtle wax chrome Polish and polish them only takes about an 5 minutes a wheel. and they look good.

The chrome polish helps keep the the dust down down some and makes it easy to come off.

If you wash & detail your truck often you shouldn't have any issues with brake dust. All i use is some bleach white tire cleanser & some wheel cleaner solution often & my wheels/tires always look great. I sometime even just detail the tires & wheels & it makes the truck look clean even though I hav'nt washed the truck body yet.

Wagner Thermoquiets are a great upgrade. I wouldn't go with a full ceramic because warping the rotors is easily done with them.
