Brake Booster Recall question?

Brake Booster Recall question?
Okay,
I just purchased a 2005 F 150 Lariat Crew last week (private party). Everything seemed to check out fine on the test drive, 4wd, brakes, ride is smooth. This past weekend I take it down to the beach for a simple ride. I put it in the sand and engage 4wd... Something does not sound right... Or no sound at all? I realize that my gage says 4 lo but only 2 tires are spinning. I locate a couple of big guys to give us a push and get us on the hard stuff.... Then I realize that my brakes feel stiff like I need both feet to get the truck to stop.
Dangerous to drive so I limp back to the house nearby with my top speed at 30 mph and one foot on the parking brake.
I call AAA the next day and bring the truck to Ford dealership, I inform the service rep that I called Ford and they ran a report for recalls performed on this vehicle and the booster brake recall had been performed.
The rep calls me the next day and tells me that there is a Vacum hose which is different then the one that was already replaced in the recall has a crack and that is why the brakes have no power and the 4wd does not engage. The service charge for this is not covered and is 4.5 hours or $420.00
My question is how many Vacum hoses are there that supply assistance to the brakes and 4wd? And does this sound like a reasonable charge.
Thanks for any help,
Fred

Thanks for the link, it sounds like the central hose from the engine is different from the brake vacum hose. What is odd is that the leak in main hose causes both systems to go out (4wd and power brakes). Either way this is real dangerous and I am extremely grateful that this did not occur while I was driving with any real speed because there is no way to stop in time.
I would have suspected the power steering to go out as well as the power brakes and 4wd systems too...
I think the Ford engineers should not have connected these two systems to begin with.
