Default Bouncing box.

Its a 04 stx 150 with the 4.6.
Love the truck and am starting to research levelling kit and tires thanks to this place but this truck has a bounce going down the road where I can see the rear left corner of the box shake or bounce until I hit 75 mph.
Then it will smooth out and go away.
The tires are original Generals and the truck has 45k on it.
Should I replace the shocks?
Or add more weight in the back?

I would take it to have the balance checked on the tires before even thinking about changing shocks at 45k.

OK....so a tire out of balance could pose such a problem.
Interesting.
Never figured it was such a delicate issue.
Tomorrow.
All 4 balanced.

No guarantee but it makes sense to start with the least expensive rotating mass first, right?

Yes Sir.
The truck was purchased off an older than me fellah and he took suck good care of her. Never kept outside.
I feel bad how she is covered in salt and road grime but I will make it up to him.
Plans are extensive but must let weather break first.
Thanks Lenn.

Mind does the same thing I took it to the dealer and they checked it out and said it was normal. something about some kind of balancing system in the back of the truck and if ti wasn't there the whole box would bounce.

I'm no engineer but I would pull the B.S. card and take it to another dealer. In your best judgement could you really be convinced that bounce/vibration/shimmy, etc is normal? Sounds like someone dropped the ball and forgot to look into the issue or the tech blew off the service advisor b/c he didn't feel like chasing his *** to find a mystery "bounce". I have worked in car dealerships as a service advisor for over 5 years and have encountered both scenarios, the first of wich didn't happen often but it did not the less.

mine is not that big I can just see it slightly.

I am thinking It could be the tires, I was talking to a friend and she told me hers did the same thing and it was the cheap tires that Ford uses.

BS card is right.
Something is wrong.
I know in my heart if I let this go it WILL compromise the structural integrity of my box and its connection fasteners.
Sooner or later I will notice damage.
Its that bad.
Any shaking or bouncing of any amount is too much.

Ford does not use cheap tires.
They are good OEM rubbers on them trucks.
Sure you can buy higher priced tires but they arent junk from the manufacturer.
Its an issue I will terminate tomorrow.
Ill let yas know.
